Watch for Grasshoppers on way to Exmouth
Submitted by carnarvonite on Fri, 2011-04-01 22:24
For those on their way through to Exmouth stick some shade cloth over your grill or radiator because they are nearly in plague proportions up here at the moment and they are not the usual little buggers. Most of these ones will go at least 4 inches--100mm long so be prepared for a yellow windscreen and headlights
.From the latest info they are nearly all the way through to Exmouth from Carnarvon.

If you get enough
in your radiator it will have almost the same effect just not as spectactular , but almost as costly , we came back from Exy to Tom Price on Monday and I have never seen them that thick , took me 3 hours to clean out the grill, radiator on the troopy, bloody smell too , the buggers cook in front of the radiator , tastes a bit like chicken they reckonLOL , you could feed a family of Eth........ , better not go there
Just one more cast , honest !!!

Russ, when mashed they don't
Russ, when mashed they don't taste too good, but if marinaded in honey or sugar and dark sauce then deep fried, they are pretty nice as a beer snack.

They are thick if you coming
They are thick if you coming from the north too. Washing the wasn't at the top of my priority list but don't want to deal with them baked on.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

They were in Leeman
just after Xmas, grasshoppers everywhere, especialy in the tiolet block, next morning dead bodies everywhere crunch crunch, travelling home between Leeman and Jurien we hit that many bees, had to stop in Jurien to wash the wind screen. Got home and they were all spattered on the front of the car, hard to wash away with their little fat bodies, splatt splatt.

No shortage
There is no shortage of the buggers, first wave a couple of months back wasn't too bad then they dropped off and now we have all their eggs hatched out and grown up. Take a walk through the grass and its like a wave of them coming out in front of you.
You have to continually wash them off the car because they stick like shirt to a blanket
