Jetty collapse

Anyone know what Jetty in Rottnest collapsed. Shame about the kids that got hurt. Only a matter of time before the same thing happens down here at canal rocks with the finger Jetty in tatters still!

I feel for those people involved. Surely jetties are required to be surveyed every few years?

Also sorry to read about people injured- It's just another reason why WA is called the "Wait-Awhile" State"!

I too wouldnt wish a unplanned injury on anyone , just going for a fun family fish.

However the flip side is every local council in WA will be watching , wondering weather its just easier to shut down jettys or marine structures , just to be safe

or if they cant afford a proper above and below water inspection that year ,,,,,,, tell me im wrong ,, its the age of litagation,,,, .

The state govt and councils have had years of ignoring these great community assets , building giant stadiums and quays , whilst hubble local jetties , both metro and regional crumble.

The cost to fix them up properly with modern materials will see them last  many many decades , and in the state budget side of things , its a drop in the ocean ( pun not intended) .
