Shot up to Jurien yesterday with a couple of mates Duges and Slip .. all Jurien virgins with no marks . Had the boat on the water around 6.30ish and headed out in a SW direction and just had a sound around covered a bit of ground and didn’t see much in terms of structure all fairly flat and no noticeable fish shows on the sounder . After a hour or so we decided to drop randomly here and there on anything slightly interesting . Finally Duges ( Skipper ) breaks the ice with a  dhu not overly big but things weren’t looking good so it was a keeper , another drift for nada and we moved on .

 

Came across a show of fish and dropped there were lots of tapper type fish then all of a sudden the rod bends and up comes my PB baldy ( I was on top of the leader board haha ) then Duges responds with a couple of baggable baldys .. Had another drift and you beauty I was on again with another big baldy . They went off the bite after that .

 

So off venturing we went , got a few undersize dhu which we pulled up slow and hopefully all released well on the weight . Moved on , then one of those mongrel sambos decides to grab my line and give me some curry . Apart from that we got a big scorpion fish and there were a few boltcutters around , my rig was only hit once but the other boys rerigged a few times . Seen some birds working had a bit of a troll but nothing .

 

Had been a couple of hours and Duges and myself had a couple in the bag . Poor ole Slip wasn’t overly talkative by this stage with only some sort of aquarium ( nemo ) fish and a NW blowie on his tally lol .. So yeah we were giving it to him , anyway we headed off to the 1st bank to have a look  and it was fairly unremarkable then all of a sudden Slip’s on ( we were calling it a exaggerated pump and wind for a NW blowie ) but low and behold a decent dhu was on the end .. Couldn’t shut him up thereafter lol .. We got our bag .

 

Cooked up a bit of the dhu and the baldy on the weber and after having them side by side .. the consensus was the baldy’s taste and texture was well ahead of the dhu ..
