Jurien trip - first Dhuie!

Headed up to Jurien a couple of weekends back with a mate and his boat. The conditions were pretty good but we spent most of the time in about 8-15m of water sounding out lumps and throwing plastics and flies on sinking lines.
Having never caught a Dhuie before I was pretty please to land a small one which went back quickly to swim another day. Feeling chuffed I dropped the same placcy back down again and managed instantly hooked up on an 70cm + jobbie! Had another drop and just as I was thinking in my head "this would be bullshit if I got a third" the rod comes up tight and up comes another 70cm fish! Also managed a 20kg Sambo in 8m of lumpy stuff that pulled like a freight train.
Pretty top fishing for just how close/shallow we were!

Some great fish there (and great pics)! Smile on your face says it all. Gotta be pretty happy getting 2 80cm's for your first, especially in shallow water. Next step would be getting on on fly, haha. Doable I recon with the right gear (and depth <15m, full sink lines and the right fly).

Thanks mate - very doable on fly thats for sure (I mostly fly fish these days). Was going to reach for my 12wt that was rigged up with a deep water express 550grain sink tip and a big clouser but kept hooking up each drop of the plastic! :D Hard to put the rod down when that happens!

Great work - love the shallow stuff
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

Thanks guys! Normally I'm the one behind the camera but in this case my mate (his boat) didn't manage to score anything so I kept shoving my Canon 5D MKII in auto mode into his hands and making him take photos of me - he did a pretty top job!

Cheers - I picked up the jig heads from Compleat Angler in Nedlands. Went to get some more but they currently don't have stock. I can't remember the branding but I think they are a sub-company or affiliated with McArthy (who make the kick ass plastics).
