I am heading up to kalbarri in January for 6 days from Friday 24th onwards, last time I was there we did a bit of beach fishing from wagoe but this time If the swell/weather looks good I'll probably bring my boat up. (5mtr Trailcraft) I have heard It can be a bit tricky getting out from the boat launching area and have also heard that I should pop in to the sea rescue place for some tips before I head off...Is this true or is there any other pointers someone would like to share.... I know no-one will give up gps spots or any of that just some general advice would be great... If anyone lives local and want a free ride out just drop us a line and I'll take you out, I'll pay for all the fuel/bait/beers etc...

Hi Dave, It can be tricky,
Hi Dave,
It can be tricky, the guys at Kalbarri sea rescue will help. Ur boat will go thru easy on a nice day.
My advice would be to sit before the channel for about 5 mins to watch the swell and read the play a bit. Once u decide to go through the cut don't hesitate or stop halfway aim down the guts and give her 3/4 throttle and u will defo go thru.
My cousin did it in a 4.2m runabout multiple times this year.

Kalbarri Mouth
Hi
Sea search and rescue is a good starting point the channel through the mouth is well marked if you have not been through before my advice would be to follow someone out. I have been going out there for the past 30 years and every time is different. Watch the sets pick the break and go through make sure you keep heading north till you are well clear black rock can be decieving as well as the swell but once you have been through once it is easy with regards to the throttle comment I just use whats required in the conditions.. As for fishing without giving away spots north up the coast is probably best head up about 4 mile to the sand patch you will always catch a feed up there in about 24 meteres just look for some lumps Snapper ,blue bone and Dhue. Or Straight West from the mouth 10 miles heaps of good ground out there. Or you could try South down the cliffs about 7 mile to the rabbit proof fence some nice ground down there as well. We normally head North up to the sand patch and troll for mackies on the way up. Good Luck I will be up there on the 14th of January for 1 week so will just miss you or you could have joined us and followed us out..
Regards
