Yes, its a good time of the year to be heading up.
Usual spots for Tailor are Wittecarra creek, and Wagoe some people fish the river mouth for tailor(never had any luck there).
Rigs, gang two or three hooks for tailor.
Good beach rod, 13 ft +...
There may be a good chance of Mulloway at the river mouth with recent rains...

 The river is the deepest

The river is the deepest caramel colour I have ever seen at the moment and chugging out many kms to the north in the current. Though this will push out a lot of nice nutrients in to the ocean bringing in bigger fish to predate the small stuff being flushed out.

I doubt there will be many tailor sitting around in the mouth due to the colour, though Mullas could be prolific, saw a father and son catch a couple of 60-70cm soapies in short succession off Chinamans when I was there a couple of weeks back. Look for clearer water to get amongst the tailor and fish the bite times, I had some good fun with 70cm tailor in the middle of the day on stick baits.

Aiden is a good skipper at Reefwalker charters and works hard to put you on fish as another option.
