Weather is actually looking good for this weekend.
It's been a shocker of a year for weather up here so far. Looking at Fishranger, it goes to shit on Monday for at least 3 days, so you may have a chance of a window towards the end of the week. The Classic has a long history of being blown out,for at least half the time anyway, since they moved it to the start of March. I haven't spoken to anyone at home this week re the fishing, I'll be home Friday to find out.

lead up hasn't been the same, unfortunately.
We were catching plenty of mackerel in the lead up last year--they were slow to show, initially, although there was heaps of bait around. Then they were just there-initially they were south end of the cliffs and then later only north of the the river, IIRC. And you had to be first fence, at least. Strange. Horrocks was catching them weeks before we got any.
I'll be home Friday night until next Wednesday, if anyone wants to catch up.

So how did you all go?
had a few snippets of info from home, sounds like a few YFT was enough to take out a class?

Was very hard yakka for us kayak fishos this year
A couple of catties won the bottom section and only one mackie weighed in for the line class / pelagic section. Hopefully better fishing next year.

Strange to see cattys weighted in
I suppose it would help control them. Yeah yakkas did it tough.

Awsome weekend and comp
Went up with my son, dad and nephew to fish with a mate, first comp and did alright got a few fish on the boat including my first cobia and monster rock cod that was thankfully just under 1m the ground south and north of town certainly has some good fish unfortunatley couldn't get my first red so will have to go again.
As mentioned there was some bloody good fish at the weigh in, was good to meet Big John up there and big respect to the yakkers doing the open water average conditions and they were trolling a km off red bluff where we were in a hard top.

Danger Zone
Seems that there were a few errors with the scoring. The actual Champion Boat / Bottom 6 - 7m was Toby and his crew on Danger Zone. Well done mate.

Cheers mate
Yeah was a bit of a pleasant suprise getting the late call considering the weigh in on day 1 but we did have a local on board which helps thanks Ronny and all the tips and tricks i pick up on here thanks fishwreckers, shame for the anounced winners they also did well with 2 awsome reds on the last day and deserved the prizes they got and all up if that was the worst thing to happen to us all weekend I am still pretty happy, we were offered entry for the boat into next years classic so hopefully see you there again.
