This years Classic has all the ingredients to be a most memorable one. Tha water temps are fantastic, moon phase is good, and the fishing is going off at present
.
So is anyone on the forum making the treck this year? if so it will be good to put faces to some of the names on the site.
My names John and come and make yourself known at the briefing, we have a competitor coming down from Port Hedland this year for the first time![]()

Never done a comp before, so
Never done a comp before, so excuse the potentially dumb question. When they talk about mono game class lines on the entry forms, is that a must have, or is it just for people chasing records to go in the books?

The comp is divided into 3
The comp is divided into 3 sections, Bottom and Game and River, if you fish the bottom or river you can use the line of your choice.
However if you wish to weigh in any game fish you must use lines that are pre test, or those nominated on the form. To be elligble for any prizes on offer you must comply with IGFA rules as stated on the entry form, cheers John.

Yep 1 sail tagged, a couple
Yep 1 sail tagged, a couple of blacks raised. A couple of nice reds weighed in. Heaps of mackies, pinkies, baldies. Looked like a pretty good day out but the rivermouth will be closed by this arvo I would think. She's already flowing pretty well and the peak is just up the road.

The rivermouth is still closed at the moment and would expect it to be until the weekend at least. Still a shitload of water coming down as she's bloody dirty out the front. Strong southerly's at the moment are the only saving grace with the dirtier water being blown north. Might be worth leaving it for a week or 2.
Cheers Mick

G'day RR
yeah mate, live here. The river was opened today but she's still flowing. Lots of dirty water north and south. Probably pay to leave it for a week.

heading up that way in 2
heading up that way in 2 weeks (port gregory!)
Would assume the brown water would be finishing up hopefully by then and probably not pushing that far south?
Cheers

G'day BodieShould be all good
G'day Bodie
Should be all good down that way. Dirty water doesn't reach that far especially with the howling southerlies we've been experiencing. Hopefully wont be too windy for you because when it blows in Gregory its fucking horrible
Cheers Mick

Had a good couple days up there
Went out on my mates 8mtr leisure cat REEL ATTRACTION a couple of days before the comp to check out some spots. We picked up a nice dhuie and dropped another but things wernt firing as they would normally i was told! We then hit the water friday morning and headed north and picked up two pinkys early thinking it was gonna fire for the rest of the day and then nothing for hours moving from spot to spot trying different stuff plastics, bait and jiggs before picking up 6.2KG dhuie and then nothing again for a couple of hours before heading back in we stoped at one more spot where i picked up my first Kalbarri dhuie. With my dhuie and pinkys total wight of 8.6KG. We didnt bother heading out on saturday knowing the river wasnt far from being closed to try some land based spots that can fire! with no luck only hooking two sharks and landing a small mackie. All in all a good couple of days
