So looking at this you would be heading out of the mouth? North Easterly direction going up the coast slightly?

this is great info,thanks.
I am heading up there mid January for a week and was wondering if it would be worth towing the boat (5m trailcraft) up there. Any one have an idea what the winds and waves are usualy like at this time of year.

Mid January will be a very mixed bag of weather

Thu, 2015-09-10 15:12

Early mornings are usually good/OK within 4 miles or so of the mouth either direction inshore. After 10am, likely to be strong southerly. Unless a heat trough forms up and then it will be easterlies, and hot. Best bet would be to get out early and have a troll for mackerel, or a shallow water bottom bash. Crays wouldn't be anything special by then, although you could pick up a modest feed if you persevere.

better take the boat--or you will be sweltering onshore looking at a glassy ocean, wishing you had.

That was how i see it as well, better to have the boat there and not use it than be sitting wishing you had towed it up there. Can always use it in the river and chase some small stuff with the kids.
Also will allow me to take the bikes up for the kid as well. Will tell the wife thats the only reason why I am towing the boat!!!
