kayaking newbie need some info

hey guys

been thinking for awhile to get a kayak with tax return coming soon i thought i start look into it more seriously :P

just wonder if any can point some good infomation about kayaking for fishing. eg safety and what to get etc...

 

some things i have to that i would like to fit onto the kayak

electric motor (cant remember which one it is need to double check)
sounder

 

also if anyone wants to show me the ropes when i get out for my first adventure :)

The first thing i would do is join a few kayak fishing forums, you will find 1000's of helpful threads,, i am not sure where you are from but good places to start South of the river is Penguin island and Woodmans pt.

You will find kayak fishes there most weekends .

go out and test as many as you can, before you buy, whether you want to paddle or peddle,as said above there is a good kayak forum here in perth very helpful and friendly and invites for trip all the time

When the weather gets warmer you might see them doing them i reckon,otherwise theres plenty of folks at yakfishwest that can give you a run in one,this weekend everyones in Moore river,,but any time after that should be fine,,

This is what I have on my JetSki for fishing. Not sure if you need an anchor but could be handy if things go wrong and you don't want to drift in the wrong direction. Cheers

check out www.oceankayak.com or www.bla.com.au for the range of ocean kayaks. There is a new Torque model out which has a minn kota electric motor an provision for a soundr too. They will list dealers in your area too.
