how far can you go out with your boat?? and a simple paternoster rig with 2 red long shank hooks a small sinker and fresh squid or if u cant get fresh squid the lunds squid u can buy in packages will do the trick nicely

in shore the southern sand flats
in cockburn sound for kgs upto 40 cm if you want the bigger 50cm ones start around the 32 m mark out the back of five fathom just look for lots of flair up on the bottom with your sounder and you will find them

KG'S
I agree with scottnofish, southern flats of cockburn sound is the place to give a crack. Work the sandholes and cast your fresh squid baits or coral prawns onto the weed/sand edges. Keep working around until you find the fish.

alternate bait
Crikey, lamb heart is another good bait for KG's. stays on the hook really well.

Try the gamakatsu shiner
Try the gamakatsu shiner hooks, the KGs don't seem to spit them out as easy as longshanks, pink beads above the hook also helps
Fisherman, constantly trying to out-smart fish.......with limited success
