Hi guys, I am planning my holidays for the year and was hoping to visit Kunno in late September.
Can a local please let me know how the barra fishing is in late sept. Damo?
Pilbara barra are well on the bite by then, so I assume Ord river will be ok too.
thanks!

I expect it will depend on
I expect it will depend on when the weather starts warming up, if you hit a cool patch they will be quiet, if you hit a warm patch of weather barra fire up quickly no matter where you are.

Barra in Sept
The neaps are the last weekend of Sept. I always take time off to fish this time of year as it is my favourite time.
Funny enough a few of us are already planning the annual trip to the Lyne :)
POC and a few mates will be here as usual.
Sept / Oct / Nov are the best months to fish for Barra with the weather warnming and the only hinderence is the odd storm coming through, generally later into the Build-up.
Haven't been fishing the lower Ord much recently (mostly out front in the Thompson / Sellers and False) but last few years have been good so once it starts warming up the Barra will bite.
PM me if you want more info and let me know if you are bringing a boat and what size.
There is a myriad of options, it only depends on time

Thanks Damo
I have a property in Kunno, and I plan to visit to do some "maintenance" later in the year.
I have fished the Mambey Island area a few times, and will bring my small tinnie and hopefully can catch a few.
Thanks for your advice, I will contact you when the trip is nearer.

Winter barra
rather than start a new thread - thought I'd hijack a little and ask about targetting barra even earlier than Sept. I'm hoping to find a LB barra in mid July. I know its going to be hard work, but any tips to improve my chances??? Anything else in the creeks> jacks, threadies etc that might be worth a shot?
Thanks in advance

To help us with your advice where do you plan to fish?
Here in Kununurra?
If so there are plenty of options.
I'm happy to provide advice here or PM me and I'll help anyone I can.
We went fishing last Sunday on the Dunham in our tinnies upstream from KNX to a new spot we had never fished and pulled Barra. One on casting but the rest all Trolling so Barra are around but you have to work harder.
The first thing we all said at the end of the day was how good it would fish with live bait. Although we had our tinnies you can landbase with little effort. Tinnies just allows us to cover more ground quicker, especially when you are new to a spot and exlporing.
