Landing Snapper at Woodies

Being as the sound closes tomorrow, i know you are allowed to land snapper at woodies before the 15th that have been caught outside the sound, but in the case of being checked by fisheries do we need proof to back up our word? for example a GPS screen shot?

Thanks

as far as I know, you just can't have a pinkie in your possession while fishing in the sound.  You can be passing through (probably even looking around), just don't drop a line

I guess thats why they require that you don't dawdle? Doesn't the reg stipulate that if you're carrying snapper, you must drive straight into the ramp, not stop for a quick squid session?

"It is illegal to be in possession of pink snapper while fishing in the waters of Cockburn and Warnbro Sounds during the closed season. However pink snapper taken outside of the Sounds may be transported through, and landed within, Cockburn and Warnbro Sound during the closed season."

I’m asking if you have caught a snapper on the 5, and drive straight to Woodies ramp, do you need any proof to back up your word that it was caught outside of the sound. I can’t see fisheries watching the sound with binoculars to see if you stop for a fish.

I see what you're asking, but

I see what you're asking, but its up to the prosection to prove guilt, you're not required to prove innocence.

If they had a requirement, they would make the requirement known, and they haven't.

Plenty of reasons not to, for example if they made gps tracks a requirement, imagine how much trouble that would cause? There is no other legal requirement to have a GPS? You could try and say that the early tracks are from squidding, not catching snapper, but really you went out and sat your arse at the five?

The law is laid out simply because the more complicated it is, the more problems it can cause.

As long as you dont stop in the sound, they cant charge you with anything anyways. Stop in the sound with pinkies on board and start fishing and it doesnt matter whether you could prove you caught the snapper elsewhere as its not the rule. As Jamie said, they have to prove guilt, not you prove innocence.
