last minute decision to head off to cervantes

hey guys, last minute decision to head upto cervantes with the two kids and our newly purchased 4x4 ( 1998 gu td42) on Saturday 12-07-14 just camping the one night at " Pinnacles Caravan Park "

I was just wondering if anyone has fished ( land based ) the area lately... has anyone had much luck just in front of the caravan park?  be more than happy with a small feed of herring, something for the little ones to wind in... anyway any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have tried Halco Hammas

I have tried Halco Hammas right out the front without luck. Old man was casting out whitebait and catching one fish after the other (herring or snook. He cast a live snook out and came back with just a head.

Only had luck at sunset.

Need to burley up and then they bubble.

I went from 83 SWB death trap

Wed, 2014-07-16 08:36

I went from 83 SWB death trap to an 88. Picked it up with 110 on the clock in 2006. Twas a bargain!. Written off on 2010 due to the hail but really, what do a few hail dents matter on a 20 year old 4WD. Purchased it back from insurance for 3k and drove it away that day.

Had to sell it to get a grown up's car in 2012 but wish I still had it as it was ideal for off road where some of those sticks that scratch down the Navara make me cry.

How was Cervantes?

yeah gotta love those

yeah gotta love those scratches!  mines the non turbo so lacks the overtaking power unlike your navara... well after all that planning to head to cervantes my mate decided he wanted to play in the lancelin dunes...so we ended up staying at ledge point caravan park, kids had a blast but I never got a change to wet a line. the cervantes caravan park gave me a credit so im thinking of heading up in the next week or two... in the meantime thinking of getting the boat out to land one of these snapper I keep seeing posted haha, I still think they are a myth

Yeah I had a 4.2l Diesel. Had great low range power, but yeah, 110 towing something had the foot to the floor. That turbo power of the Navara is great, but at low revs, it is pretty useless. 4 doors and comfort were what I needed though. Low range is a must in sand.

Wife and I generally head up in November for a long weekend. Nights are warmer, days are nice and there are a few fish to play with.

It is a nice park/area
