Launching at Tent Landing, tamala

we're booked in at Tent Landing for the first week of the school holidays--not intending to camp there , just using it to launch and store the ute and trailer while we do a few nights out around the bottom of the bight, and around to the Tea Tree camp side. Just a bit of a shake down for camping aboard for the two of us, before we do the bigger trips. Theresa at the station reckoned that Tent Landing was better launching than Baba Head for a boat of this size, but was still tide dependent--I've never looked at it, but have launched at Baba Head, and felt it would be OK on most tides? Anyone have any input re Tent Landing launching?

Yep
thats the right advice.
Baba Head is good for tinnys and small craft.
Can get boggy if hero’s who don’t lock their hubs rip it up.
Tent landing has a nice rock slab so traction is not an issue.
Enough water in most tides except a neap low.
We easily launched a 6m Quintrex there daily in May.

Tamala
I'll be interested to know how you go Ranmar850. Planning a trip up there with my RR early next year and haven't launched anything of that size before in Tamala.

We had no problems at high tide.
It woud be the best ramp around the area--it was only a high of 0.72 m forecast on Tuesday afternoon when we came out, and the southerly was very strong, which tends to keep the levels down, down at the bottom end of the gulfs. Add 2 hours to Useless Loop times. Have a look at my trip report in Reports.

I'll keep you posted.
I've F***ed up completely wth my dates, got a lot going on, and managed to pick the week BEFORE the Pinky ban comes off. oh, well, this trip has never been about bringing slabs of fish home, we never have a problem catching enough black snapper or baldies for a feed when we go out of season. This is more about just cruising around for 4 or 5 days, and seeing how our on-board camping ideas will work. We'll just go with the flow with regards to weather, just shift around to the Tea Tree camp side if the sou'easter gets too fresh. Enough options in that regard, looking forward to it.
MattMiller, thanks for the info, sounds like tide isn't as critical as it is in some places at the bottom of the bay.
