LED Strip Lighting
Submitted by Albee Mangles on Tue, 2013-06-04 09:02
Guys just bought some 500mm LED strip lights and have started re-doing the wiring on my boat, not that there was anything wrong with it before except the fuel guage wasn't working which i found a loose wire. But now its all out, i'm adding the anchor light, cabin light, two extra speakers for the stezza, a new VHF radio and the strip lighting. Seems the boat has a loom fitted to include the extra lights to the switchboard but they arent connected.
Curious as to where others have placed their Strip Lights, under the side pockets or in them seems to be popular? Doesn anyone have any pics of them going or suggestions on where to put them?

Mine are under the side
Mine are under the side pockets, give good light while not being too bright. Ran a 5m length through the cabin and down one side, and is enough light with just that.

Gunnels
Hi Alby, great move with the LED strip lights. I have mine running under the gunnels pointing straight down, and have them running through a dimmer as on full strength they can be a bit bright. They work great and keep things free from glare, without interfering too much with your night vision (unlike my LED anchor light that blinds me)
Thought I had some photos of the installation but can't find them now. There is a good thread on the subject here : http://fishwrecked.com/forum/boat-lights
Good luck.
