Got a few trips on the go for fishing and just wondering what length the plane will let me take on board, ie rod tube full of rods. Im only going within australia and not even sure which type of plane or company in which ill be flying. How do i find this info out as its not on the general info you get. Cheers Chris.
PS: Id like to take a 7' foot case if possible

Qantas
Spess I took a 7' one piece rod to Darwin in a case last year. Flying Qantas.
I always see people are always taking surfboards when Im there so rods shouldnt be a problem.

You will have no troubles
You will have no troubles with a seven foot rod tube Spess, I took one to Broome with three rods in and was fine. They will make you put it in special Baggage, and it will not come out on the carousel. They will dump it somewhere else near it. I was waiting for ages until all the baggage had gone, then i noticed it leaning against a wall near a door twenty meters away(thought they had lost it).I put all of my reels in my hand luggage, it is easier to replace a rod.
Hope this helps.

I have taken an eight foot
I have taken an eight foot tube no problems. As three lions says it will come out somewhere else.
Or as the case when I came back from Darwin once, it came in a taxi via Sydney three days later
