Line diameters and spool capacity , Wish someone could get it right
just a little annoyed, just took 3 attempts to spool up my twinpower 10000 fc spool , the spool states that it will take 520m of .30mm braid so i have a new300yrd roll of diawa shinobi braid that is suposed to be .28mm diammeter (50lb) so i put on 200m of 10lb (.30mm) mono then went to put on the braid and didnt even get half way ,aarrrggghhh ,took the braid back of again and removed about 100m of backing , on with the braid again ,aaarrgghh still not even close so off with the braid again ,took all the backing off this time and on with the braid , filled the spool to the brim WTF either shimanos line capacitys are bullshit or shinobi braid is twice as thick as stated on the box either way i now have a sore arm from winding 1500m of fricking line , sorry just needed to have a vent

Maybe just do it once
Maybe just do it once backwards rather than three times???
Tie your leader to the spool, then tie the braid to the leader, then once you run out of braid, you tie your backing on and go to full.
Ok so now its filled up really nicely, but its backwards? Reverse it straight onto a spool the same capacity, ie: spare spool, or bugger around a little drill and a spare line spool.

Exactly like how i used to do
Exactly like how i used to do it for reels when i worked at a Ranger Outdoors, i hadnt spooled up before. After a while you start to work out how much backing certain reels take and can usually guesstimate it right. But otherwise the way Till described is the best way to get it totally right.

correct, it does lay the line
correct, it does lay the line exactly and tight (if using a machine), however, it still requires to you to spool it 4 times... (unless you have to spools for the reel and you go directly from one to the other)

Drills
This is exactly why variable speed electric drills were invented, just for fisherpeople.

The reel question is why
i think the real question is why you were using 10lb backing on 50lb mainline?

because i never get down to the backing anyway
as i am putting on 300 m of line on a reel that is used in under 100m depth of water and dhuies dont peel of 200m ,
i only used the 10lb mono as its the same diameter as the braid and thought that way i know that i should have been able to to fit
520m of that size on the spool but it only took 300m so thats more my point is that either the capaciteis on the reel are wrong or the braid diameter is bull
,i normally do it the way till suggested but didnt this time as the shinobi braid comes in a flash box that tensions the line for you and has a slot you can stick a nail in as a handle to wind it back on i thouht i would try it that way instead

I know exactly what you
I know exactly what you mean, i just spooled up a twinper 1000fc with about 250m of 3lb braid, and thats loaded to the brim. basically you can get ABOUT twice as much braid than mono of same breaking strain. I think it must have something to do with the fact that braid is not perfectly smooth like mono?
