Load times for pages

Hey does anyone else have long load times this is really getting to me ,

I am waiting between 10 and 25 seconds for pages to load ,

even when I just hit the back button to go to the last page shown.

It's starting to really do my head in.

Very occasionally I get time outs, otherwise pages load almost instantly, and I only have 256K down. Laughing

Only here for me

Sun, 2008-06-22 22:12

Only here for me , and it happens every time .

I go to the recent posts page and just scoll down to see whats what and only click on something I want to read , I use to read everything and look at all the pics , I havn't looked at a pic for weeks and only read about 5 topics , I Don't get it from any other site , and I'm on 1.5 mb download speed.

And my computer IS the fastest you can get , I only got it built a couple of months ago and had to wait for the latest parts to get shipped in .

Mav - yes westnet

Yes Mav, I'm with Westnet too; and, as I said, with a much slower download speed. That you are fine with downloading other site content makes me wonder if it's your browser settings compatability with the software of this sight? Just a guess mind you.

I know there's a QLD fishing site where a chap posted changes to FF to 'multi-stream' - it made a huge difference to loading that site (don't go in there much after I found FR Cool). I think I posted it (the changes) here - can post the link if you like, or copy and paste the changes? See if that helps?

Known effects (well kind of)

Mon, 2008-06-23 08:52

Occaissionaly when Adam and I are uploading large files to the FW server it can effect load times as it can utilise a fair bit of bandwidth. If these times coincide with the peak hours after work, when a lot opf people are online, it probably would make things load slower. We spoke about it the other day and now avoid any big uploads or downloads at that time.
Ads is away for a few days so I am sure he will have a better understanding of it and explain when he gets back.

No Probs

Mon, 2008-06-23 08:53

After recently moving & finding out I had no ADSL access, I've had to change to wireless bb, although my load time are obviously longer than my 1.5mb/s adsl+2, I'm surprised how quick it is.

Using Firefox as my browser & my service is provided by 3.

I am with Amnet adsl+2 but

Mon, 2008-06-23 11:45

I am with Amnet adsl+2 but sync at around 8mb and have no problems.

I use firefox and just go through latest comments and open them all up at once into other tabs.

This way if a page does take a bit longer to load it has by the time I get to read it.

Your computer speed has very little bearing on your Internet page loading. Most computers are very much faster than the Internet by a long shot so you have a bottle neck.

Wireless is slighlty slower than a network cable connection when you maybe on the same plan.

Have you got your Internet speed back again Mav?

Suggest you have that page (URL) saved in your favourites/bookmarks as the Fishwrecked site. Just go back to the home page and resave (overwite) it.
