To all those that didnt come fishing with me last night it was probably a good thing. There was no Tailor bite, we only got 2. But I did get this...........
122cm and 17kg.

Good guess. 17 kg. Yer at a local beach sor. Was only down there for 1 hr again. Most of that time was spent fighting this monster. Caught just before the sun went down.

usualy they sometimes come at that time
you want to know how i guessed the weight? i caught a simmilar size mulloway in mosmans about 5 years ago at 2 am in the morning, and it weighed 16kg,but havnt had any luck since them, also why i know they usually bite on sunset,is because my deceased father and myself got quite a few between the late 80"s and early 2000,but sadly those days are gone in the swan river and also the local beaches and freo harbor, but well done, but i will keep trying to live on the glory days in hope of the elusive swan river legend

Awesome mulla..
Still trying to bag one locally but can't get past the sharks!
I can Also remember going to the ammo jetty as a kid in summer in the late 80's early 90's and a mulla would get caught most nights when then were running.

I grew up in kalbarri so
I grew up in kalbarri so I've caught a few there. But this is my biggest by 2 kg. Caught it on mulies and gangs. Was fishing for tailor as I got a heap to 45 cm 2 nights ago at the same spot. Where I'm fishing there is a MASSIVE gutter running the entire length of the beach. We just picked a spot that looked a little deeper and started fishing.

Well done there cud, that's a beauty!!!!
Out here we call em Kob, (south africa that is) generally they feed late sunset and into the night, mostly as the tide is ending it's change, and certainly in the channels or gullies, I take it you were using live bait? would you guys be able to help with where I could find pics of the bait you generally use?

Yer was using pilchards for bait chasing tailor.
But some would argue the best bait for mulloway is actually tailor.

Hahaha. Funniest thing just happened. My sis in law comes over to clean our house for pocket money. She was cleaning our bathroom wen she noticed a heap of towels in the bath. She went to pull them out wen she got the fright of her life. There's this humungus fish in our bath covered in ice! Forgot she was coming over and I got no esky big enough to keep it in till I get home from work to clean it. Lol

Got a Saragosa 18000 with 50lb braid down to bout 5m of 60lb leader on a silstar crystal 12 ft. Goes real nice. I'd have a Stella but no way I'd take it onto the beach with it's 100 or so bearings. I'd destroy it in seconds. Lol

Great fish mate
Find a good gutter at that time of night and even much later and you are always in with a chance.
