Local Style

I spent yesterday out on the water with a couple of local friends here on Pohnpei. We trolled the barrier reef for wahoo and only left when we saw a school close by. No tuna or marling unfortunately but we got a couple of nice hoos. Best went 16kgs. It was an awesome day, in a 19 foot open boat with PVC rod holders for rods and out-riggers. The combined value of our rods and reels came in at more than he paid for the boat. No EPIRB, No lifejackets, and No phone or radio reception once you get around the back half of the island. Island style.

Outriggers
Well they'd never used them before and try as hard as I could to talk them in 'white man' speak about setting them up correctly they continued to try and snap them all day long. LMFAO all day. It was as good a day as I've had fishing anywhere. Not many fish but bloody great fun.

Beautiful
It was a thing of beauty and it was the one we nailed the bigger wahoo on. Maintenance pays off.
