Yeah...didn't expect to see this down this way...This pest is good fun on light gear cos they love going airborne when hooked.
Try catching them on popper is ultra fun.

Sectioned them and put on a gang, stayed intact for ages even after towing a couple of size blue manna in. Tried on the little hooks as well nothing touched it. Trolling could be different. Very acrobatic when caught like Uluabuster said. Brilliant aqua green colour also. Ed Grants Fish ID rates them as tablefish. I narrowed it down to crocodile longtom.

Use to fillet them for bait, I remember it worked well, being a very oily fleshed fish! Wouldn't eat them though. As mention, nice on light tackle, and challenging setting the hook in such a hard peak

sikkkkk,
It's hard to absolutely sure with this photo, but it looks very much like a Slender Longtom Strongylura leiura. They are tropical, but are not uncommon in the southwest in the summer between November and May. I love watching them skip across a flat sea.

I've noticed they have a crazy sense of sight or hearing or something, because as soon as the plastic hits the water, you can see the V shape they make on the surface as the come screaming up to your line from up to ten meters away!
