I just had a look in the above links and I notice the goods are in Vancouver BC Canada, why on earth. would you buy from EBay and you can get the same thing here in Perth. Challenge Marine and HaywayMarine, stock Northstar and there is the Warranty to remember. I think AllBoat Business stock the Lowrance range of electronics.
the reason i would get one over seas is the price im not going to spend an extra 1000 plus to buy one in perth as for warranty the have to warrant it and its free shipping
definately get 2 units, as alfred said learn from our mistakes, you might find as i did one part of the unit works good but the other is lacking, i spent 2k on a split only to end up using it soley as gps and then spent 2.5 k on sounder, could have saved big $ going seperate in the first place
Perhaps the best thing; is, for the split.... the jury's out, but if I need another specific sounder I now have a chart plotter, GPS, engine management, and fishfinder on an 8.5 inch screen. (ok what happened there, the bold has switched itself on???) and I can read these without my glasses, bonus. I've got my unit so I'm going to stay with it and I'll let you know how it all goes. ;)

Northstar M84
I've got one and like it so far.
Purchased from CH Smith Marine in Melbourne.
They did a very good deal and had it delivered to my door, no P&H costs.
You'll need to purchase the transducer as an extra but the GPS antenna is included and flush mounts which is is a bonus.

It's not worth the hassle of switching back and forth, learn from our mistakes on false economy and get 2 seperate units from the start.
