Hi Guys
I am heading to dongara for the long weekend, hopefully get some good weather.
i am borrowing a mates tinny and was wondering if i need an epirb. I am not planning on going too far out so if i am less than 2 nm out in perth i dont require one but i cant find out if this is the same there or whether all boats need 1
cheers

Just asked Bob and your measurements
start from the shore line and he would take the epirb with him for under 3 nm out to sea, yes he thinks its law anywhere up the coast if you are going out over 2nm

thanks roberta
yeah i am going with 2 other boats in a convoy, we have previously headed down the coast not too far out, i have all the other stuff flares etc and being with 2 other boats do not feel unsafe but obviously a fine for not having an epirb would ruin the weekend

The Law clearly states, that
The Law clearly states, that if you are going further than 2nm from the shore, it is compulsory to carry an EPIRB. The only exemption, is in the areas, prescribed as an exemption Zone. It is not an accessory its a, neccesary Safety Device. If you have your RST, (Recretaional Skippers Ticket), it would be good seamanship to have your EPIRB aboard at all times, regardless where you are!!
