yeah DOT, I was sent mine automatically when they first came out as Ive got commercial tickets then got got a letter a few weeks later to say there was a fault and to destroy it and a replacement would be dispatched.
Never came but years later DOF told me I should request a new one-didn't cost anything though maybe cos it was their screwup?
...and STILL went missing....which brings me to another question...is it mandatory to have the ticket on board or can they just look it up? It would make sense to have it linked to the boat rego, although technically speaking you can own a boat without actually being qualified to drive it.
The regulations 'recommend' you have it on you. Therefore you are not in the wrong if you don't have it with you. I only looked into this because a few mates received fines for not having it on them. We looked into it and the fines were revoked.
Depends on how far offshore you are when they come across to you and how good their internet connection is. I always carry mine and my Grandsons tickets onboard though not laminated. I used the wife's vacuum sealer as I found that the laminated version still allows water damage.

Give a man a mask, and he'll show you his true face...
The older you get the more you realize that no one has a f++king clue what they're doing.
Everyone's just winging it.

Thanks fellas!
The next step would've been a trip down to Woolies to try and find one in a cereal packet!

Not always possible to look them up
