Lovely relaxing fishing , wtf Im wheel clamped!

No it hasnt happened to me , but its only a matter of time before someone is . ( north and south mole )

Theres lit up mobile signs there atm letting people know , a tad harsh I believe most would say.

So , you turn up for a nice relaxing fish on Friday evening after work at about 5.30 -6 hoping for a tailor or 2 .

Around 8 the tailor go quiet , so you have a snack at the car , and rig up for something bigger ( hopefully) but sorry mate , you must go at 8.30.

Look , a lot of young , less well off crew fish at the moles , which cause bugger all trouble That ive seen ( there their to fish!) and indeed the friendly atmosphere

Ive seen there during a snapper or salmon run is quiet refreshing in this day and age.

yes you can bugge roff for ten minutes and then come back( lose your spot? ) but why the hell should you .

Parking is never a problem most evenings, and only fishos usually stay that long ( apart from backpackers staying the night , a different issue by the way)

So maybe a call to rec fish west from me and others , due to this seemly discrimnation against fishers!.

Quote from council website below.............

There is free parking at Fremantle's South Mole and North Mole. You can walk around the red lighthouse at the North Mole and the green lighthouse at the South Mole. The moles offer a great view of arriving or departing ships.

At times the moles may by closed for works or because of weather conditions. Check the Fishing page for information.

There is a three-hour limit on parking and campervans are not permitted to park overnight. Vehicles overstaying will be issued with a parking breach notice or may be clamped or towed. If you receive a parking breach notice, please contact PES at www.pesau.com.au

Its almost purely for the 200+ backpacker and "wicked"vans that frequent the moles, c y oconnor beaches, etc, that freeload the bejesus out of fremantle.

Itd surprise me if fishos or ship fanatics got stung there.

Carry a battery powered grinder ?

Sun, 2015-03-01 21:50

I looked it up , its managed by wilson parking , a private company , run for profits of course, so it would

make no difference if you were there having a fish or not, the clamp would go on.

I must admit I just dont see how a private company can interfere with your property ( attaching wheel clamp to car) and not be

breaking a law .

Possession

The concept of possession developed from a legal system whose principal concern was to avoid civil disorder. The general principle is that a person in possession of land or goods, even as a wrongdoer, is entitled to take action against anyone interfering with the possession unless the person interfering is able to demonstrate a superior right to do so.

In England, the torts act has significantly amended the law relating to wrongful interference with goods and abolished some longstanding remedies and doctrines.

Couldn't agree more

Every couple of years the state government in WA has a look see at just what is going on in the administration of the various local government instrumentalities. In just about every case there is and administrator appointed after the examination of the local governments activities, why, these bodies (IMO) get carried away with the powers granted to them and bring about conditions and constraints on the population they represent that reflect their own way of doing things, not the status desired by the constituents.

When you question why such and such is being considered at a council meeting you are then identified as a critic of the council and the subject you have raised is completely side stepped whilst you are beset with questions about your motives and agendas.
This is fine but when you answer all these probing questions which generally have nothing to do with the subject matter you find the final decision is going to be made by hidden committee.
So suck it up princess, and now can we get on to important matters like who are we going to nominate for the best councillor award.

Or why we should stop kids/adults from fishing in the local lakes (put in by developers) for introduced pests which the council will spend your rates on to get rid of

Local councils abolish them all as far as I'm' concerned they are all WOFTM.

 Carry a cordless grinder

Mon, 2015-03-02 06:32

Carry a cordless grinder with you and cut the bloody things off.  They leave a note on your window and won't release the clamp until you pay the fine.  Private company cannot get your details from your plates to chase you up.

Need to carry a good supply of cutting wheels & few spare batteries for the grinder, those clamps are a lot tougher than you might think.

Big mistake if you think that

Mon, 2015-03-02 17:36

2 years back there was a big story in the "west Aust Paper" about the deal done between the parking company and the WA Police. The deal being that the Police sold yep sold the ability to trace owners of vehicles by there licence number.
Big hu ha finial result nothing changed it was declared by parliament to be an ok deal as it was in the interests of public safety that people parking where they shouldn't should be punished and not get away without paying the fine.

This mainly related to cars parked in Wilson parking areas but, can be used on vehicles that are clamped and abandoned.

WA the state where money will get you absolutely everything.

 Off memory, the govt

Mon, 2015-03-02 19:28

Off memory, the govt mistakenly sold the info (dpi) to Wilsons and then realising what was done, requested that the details be returned, this was a couple of years ago and I don't believe it has happened since.  In regards to freo it may be an issue if it is administered by local government authority.

solution

Mon, 2015-03-02 12:57

step one - find out what style clamps theyre using.
step two - buy or make your own.
step three - locate your desired fishing spot and park up.
step four - fit your clamp to your own wheel and stay as long as you like.

also doubles up as a prank for your mates or the one guy at work who pisses everyone off

You can see the cover plate showing thru the wheel rims on the second photo and a little bit of it on the first one as he holds it.
