Hey guys,
Got a hds 12 gen 2 going on 4.5 mtr polycraft cc.
Wanting info on the best aftermarket transducer upgrade?
Had bad experiences with standard ones in the past.
Any feedback is appreciated.
Cheers.

upgraded mine
Hey mate
Just upgraded mine for the HDS 9 gen 2 touch. Went the TM260 Airmar 1kw, only installed on weekend so haven't used it yet but www.(can you mention websites that are not sponsors).com had a sale on normal price $1500, sale price $995, according to their sales people it is 13 times more sensitive, I only fish out to about 50m and they recon I'll see more clarity and fish separation plus read at over 20 knots. The original 600w one that came with unit went haywire at about 13knots.

Work out depth you fish and
Work out depth you fish and check beam angle for bottom area seen on sounder
just remember that if you go with something like the TM260 a very popular choice... the beam angle is very narrow so what you see on the bottom is a very small area comparative with the standard 600w tranny (especially in shallow under 100m) so sometimes will make finding ground difficult.

not convinced on this beam
not convinced on this beam angle and not seeing as much bottom as I also run a tm260 on a hds12 and furuno 587 I also fitted a p66 600w on the weekend and I still see the same bottom as with the tm260 running them side by side and swapping transducer from one to the other as I run mix and match transducers

if I remember rightly
at 200khz the p66 = 11 degrees
TM260 = 6 dergees
you can work with this with the TM260 by hunting for new ground in shallow water on 50Khz and using the much wider beam.

Beam angle
check the airmar website re beam angle they have a scale on there, at a depth of 30mtrs you are only seeing a 3mtr area of the bottom.
If you are looking at transom mount check out a tm275w, has a 25deg beam and a larger footprint only downside is price.
My spots are so secret even the fish don't know about them !

I would just go with a p66
I would just go with a p66 anyway with a boat of your size it will be perfect
