Lucky or Unlucky?
Well I had an interesting day yesterday afternoon. With the weather looking good I decided to get out for a fish before the ban comes in. Left the ramp at around 1pm and headed around the cape. With some good reports coming in the last couple of days we all were pretty excited about what the arvo would bring. Just as I was about 200m from my first spot the motor made a couple of clunking noises and then stalled. After about an hour of trying to start it again we realised it wasn't going to start and we were going to need a tow. Contacted Quindalup sea rescue and the tow home was arranged. Knowing the boys would take a while to reach us we threw out the pick and decided to have a fish. With a sandy bottom below we didn,t really expect too much but down went a variety of rigs. After about half an hour with only a few wrasse caught the rods were left in the holders and we all just kick backed. Not long after there were shouts of big rod, big rod. Seb quickly grabbed the rod and was soon hooked up onto something solid We were all calling it for a ray as it just wanted to sit on the bottom but after a few minutes it started coming up and started to really fight. As it came into view we could see it was a shark and when it hit the surface we could see it was a large gummy. Stoked a little compensation for a bad trip. With the sounder showing a school of long skinny fish below it wasn't too long before a second gummy was caught and landed. After this fish was delt with we decided to call it a day and get ready for our tow home. Not long after the boys from sea rescue arrived, hooked us up and started the long haul home. The trip home took around two and a half hours. On the way home we spotted around 15 whales, a little more compensation for a bad day. Reached Quindalup just as the sun was going down.
A big thanks to the guys from Quindalup sea rescue that gave up their friday arvo to come and get us. Very much appreciated.

Sorry to hear the engine
Sorry to hear the engine troubles. Hopefully it wont be a too costly fix. At least you didnt end up going home empty handed.
Are you in the big blue hull boat? If so i think i past you coming back from the cape off baunker/eagle bay. around 13:30-14:00. Got around the cape at 9am, wasnt too bad so headed further south to my spots, by about 10:30am i was seriously regretting going out to my spots as the wind kicked up somthing cruel off yallingup and i had to crawl my way back closer to the shore and sneak along it all the way back to sugarloaf. But by 11:45 it started calming down, even saw a tinnie come round the cape and fish off sugarloaf. Must have bigger balls than i to round the cape in those conditions, but by 12:30 it had calmed off beautifully. Didnt do to bad though, two pinkies 67 and 69cm and \two undersized dhu's.
