Maldives fishing charters

Hello fellow Fishwrecked members!

The missus and I are going to the Maldives in October and I’ve been doing some research on fishing charters over there but finding it hard to find a decent charter.

just wondering if any of you legends have been on a charter over there and could give me any recommendations!?

We would prefer to do a half day bottom fishing and a half day sport fishing trip but any info would be greatly appreciated!

cheers

Mitch

Hey, I did a live aboard surf

Hey, I did a live aboard surf charter that left Male and travelled down towards the south atolls. I fished every morning and evening and trolled between the spots each day. Fishing around Male and the northern atolls was very quiet. Blue trevally morning and evening with the odd small trout off the bottom. We trolled for hours without a touch. Just seemed very over fished.
Southern atolls were a very different story. I was jigging up big trout every morning from the side of the boat in 15m. Wrestled some huge trevally and cod in the evenings, usually in 40m of water. Trolling was unbelievable....we caught loads of wahoo each day. Most in the 15 - 18kg range. A few big dollies as well. There were a few big sails in the mix at times.
I did see a couple of charters operating down that way. Looked to be reasonably set up and operating out of the fancy resorts. In short, if you are staying south you shouldn't have too much of a problem finding fish. North around the surf resorts....not so great. Good luck!
