Plenty around, not sure if

Plenty around, not sure if there are many sized ones out though, usually the smaller ones are thick this early in the season and you have better luck with the larger ones around late December - January. Busselton is probably a safer bet at the moment if you want a feed.

Too early for good size crabs

Sun, 2015-11-08 13:56

The season my be open but from what I've seen it is too early to get a feed of crabs.
There are a lot of under size crabs about and if people can be persuaded to leave them alone to grow to a good size, and by that I mean bigger than just legal size we could have a good season starting some time mid January.

By then the crabs have achieved a good size and are full of meat, sadly the way things have been in the past a hell of a lot of crabs have got two or three legs and a claw missing by then, caused by being caught a couple of times and treated roughly when being put back because they are not size when caught earlier.

Yes a few of our customrs are getting a feed from the Brewery and also Mosman Bay. They are big and full of meat so you only need a handful to make a big meal.

Does anyone know if the yellow fin are starting to show up on the flats down there?

There were some big ones on the flats in freo yesterday morning but they were hard to fire up and not interested in stickbaits. Still a bit cold i think.

Crabs

Mon, 2015-11-09 09:05

The boats have been hitting the area infront of us in Bouvard. Mixed reports but I know one person and his mate bagged out (they thought they did but a miss count ment 18) but it took them 7hrs and about 12 runs!!!

Mostly 4-8's after a few runs but all report heaps of little ones.

Will report after Wednesday (fingers crossed) but we normally only start about end November, but hey a day crabbing is better than sitting around or gardening!!!
