I have a 2000, 20hp model on my tinny. Awesome motor.
I fell out of love with my boat and let it sit for 3 years (under cover) and blew the dust off it one day and it started 3rd go. Now it starts first time every time.
Great motor. I compare it to an old land cruiser. May not look or sound pretty (when compared to a new yammy or similar) but it Just keeps going and going.
Most probably because of the old Mercury's stigma .. don't know about that actual model , though I've had a older oil injected 50hp mariner and that was very reliable . These days on the bigger boat I have a 140 suzi 4 stroke and very doubtful I would buy a 2 stroke in that size range .. thats just me though .
had one on a Dolphin boat years back ... just a re-badged Merc two & half litre V6 if my memory is correct, no major issues when I had it
good performer ... like a drink tho, ended up repowering with 150 Suzuki
I had a Mariner 60ph, oil injected motor on my last boat. Not sure of the year but circa 2002.
Used to start first time, economy was 1nm to the litre average over the time I had it. Pushing my 16ft glass half cabin boat.
The only problem I had was a stuffed stator (?) The motor would just stop reving and go to around a fast idle. Didnt do it all the time but maybe 3 or 4 times. Replaced the stator and all was good. Apparently this was a common problem in at least my model engine.
Otherwise I was very happy with it.
But cannot vouch or comment on the one your looking at.
