Cannot believe what happened to Harvey... Ross Lyon has dogged him hard!! Supposedly this has been in the working for 5 weeks, Same management company which would be tough to swallow for harvey... WOW!! I reckon Harveys a good coach too, wonder how long it takes for me to start turning off freo game because they are playing "saints footy". Dont know what they expected harvey to do with all those injuries this season... no one can judge under the circumstances he faced. Sports radio in Melbourne is all pretty shocked.

Dockers should play well under Lyon.  He'll only ask them to kick 8 or 9 goals a game.  That's something the Dockers might be able to achieve!!!

But seriously - Harvey got shafted big time.  And I didn't think the Dockers could go backwards from where they were.  Now I think they will under Lyon.  How is he a better coach than Harvey???  Is this the same coach that couldn't keep disipline in his team.  How many rape charges and contoversy came out of St Kilda since Lyon was there?

Lyon dogging Harvey, Tom Scully doing the dirty on Melbourne, Brogan crapping on Port and throw in a bunch of other key players who bailed to either GWS or GCS for the $$.  Then you've got the players pay dispute, Telstra cracking a sad over their rights etc.

Maybe freo should think about hiring a West Australian to coach a WA team for a change instead of picking up essendons rubbish and 2nds as they have since their inception. dont think it will change things for them in the short term , did they sack johnson as well ?

Finally a proven coach! Every other coach they've tried, have had basically no senior coaching experience. Best thing that could happen to them getting Lyon. He has a good win/loss record and has proved his worth as a coach.

Harvey had it coming. Stupid coaching decisions cost him he's job! Plain and simple... Not dropping players, playing his mate McPhee (who is possibly the worst player in the AFL) Johnson should've been dropped. Pav should be playing forward. Pretty much everything Haselby has said is spot on.

IMO i think there biggest deficiency is the forward line. Just look at the top 4 side's this year, they all have a true centre half forward/full forward. Dockers dont have any tall key position players. The year when the dockers did alright they had Pav up forward who kicked 60 goals that season. I dont think any docker kicked 30 goals this season! Kepler Bradley doesnt really cut it as a primary target up front. They really need a good forward!

The rest of the team is good, Midfield isnt quick but has quality players in Mundy, Barlow, Hill, Fyfe and Broughton even and the Backline is decent with Silvangi, Grover and McPharlin

Lets face it, Freo had their injury problems this year, but there have been rumours for months that Harvey was putting pressure on the medical team to clear players as quick as they could to play....

IMO Harvey was rushing people back before fully recovered from injury. His training regime somehow was either too full on or something of the like to have that many injuries. Before injuries they seriously did look like a top 4 finish.

Wouldnt you want ppl to come back as soon as possible if you had 22 on the injury list with a shot still at the finals... look at Buddy playing this week, Luke Hodge in the Granny, Nigel lappin in the granny. Sometimes you need to take the punt if you want sucess. From what iv heard it wasnt a case of Harvey not being good enough, it was just there was a better man for the job. Im still undecided on that, if you cant win a flag with Goddard, riewolt, Hayes, Dal Santo, Montanga, Fisher, Ball, etc than he cant be that great. Not to mention he pretty much ruined Riewolt career playing saints footy... Freo have a pretty talented list so it will be interesting to see how they go.

But as posted somewhere else I am a sandgroper. So the docker's is #2 team. But holly hell they are so directionless. Chop and change in some desperation to achieve. They almost made the finals this yr bar injuries, and did last yr. There is no underlying master plan at Freo, but with a wooden spoon last yr ( now suck up dockers fans after the bagging we all got last yr) the Eagles didnt panic, didnt fire woosha and look to the future.

NOW that is a club. No sleezy deals etc, just heart.

I've had a couple of days to think about this and I'm almost ok with it now. 3 other teams without a coach and Freo has pulled in a bewdy in 3 hours in a perfectly executed coup that caught everyone unaware. Sure Harv's was the casualty, but everything else is still good in the Freo camp. I'll now be watching with interest to see what what happens next year and how Lyon sees the current team going forward. Disappointed though seeing a few of you guys see this as another opportunity do do some docker bashing though.
