long long night here. flames too close for comfort.
but a huge thank you to the hundreds of both professional and volunteers who put in the time and effort to get the Byford and Wungong fires under control. Fantastic. Can only hope this rain comes soon to put a complete end to it.

I’ll let the old man know the appreciation as he was on night shift last night and he’d have been out there fighting them or covering for the eastern stations by attending their car crashes, alarm calls etc. Poor bastard is also helping us out today by watching my 2 and 4 year olds and doing the school run for my 6y old while mum is at work and reckons he doesn’t need me to come home from work… the man is a pure machine.

The resources were pretty stretched yesterday too with the big fire that was also burning out the back of Margaret River. So it was a great job by all.

Spent most of the night
Spent most of the night moving all the horses to safety.
All the neighbours who had little kids got them out to friends and rellies. I stayed to defend. some time on the roof with the bore pumping and just watching the fires up the hill.......sucked when the power went out but not bad by then.
was a bad feeling as soon as the sun set and the choppers and all air services stopped.
must have been some very anxious ppl who were a hell of lot closer than me.
Rain seems well and truly here now so hopefully should all be good.
