Left Mindarie early on the hunt for KGs. 10nm out and been doing the same drift in one area for 3 hours. Some f%#ckwit decides to pull up approx 100 mts up wind from my drift. You have got to be jokeing.
On a side note picked up 1 king george and succefully released 9 Dhus. Couldn't get away from them. The ban is obviously working well for the breeding.

rig?
how do you know hes pinging? honestly he may have that exact same mark or a mark 100m away up drift of where the boat was.....he did stay 100m away. A ping to me is when a boat comes 50 m or generally closer....
Look i understand there is the courtesy rule even if some ones on your mark moove on to the next....(which i have had to dealt with in the past) but do i call him a pinger cause hes on "my" mark...... no i dont.
if the bloke cant read a sounder and hes pinging a 100m is going to catch you dick all.

just get frustrated when people automatically assume cause they have this mark no one in the world is entitled to either have found it before or after them.......

had a bloke
was on North West reef of Dampier , I had been there about an hour , had done a dive and was now fishing , another boat turns up and anchors , that's fine but then he swings around on the anchor and bangs into my boat lots of swearing and threats so he moves about 100 meters apparently I was in his spot

Actually had someone tie up to mine
A few years ago whilst we were down below, he had the cheek to tie up to the rear bollard / cleat
When we surfaced his explanation was that and I quote "we figured if it was a good dive spot there had to be good reef down there and didn't think you would mind"
Without loosing my cool I then proceeded to explain just how flaming dangerous even getting that close to divers down was, explained the dive flag and it's meaning wrote down his rego and reported him to authorities .........hell a 100 metres is miles away by comparison ..............but I must say have had plenty "drop in" on my drift and consider it very bad form, mind you one that did it a few months ago did me a favour, hadn't caught anything when he dropped in and I was so &&**% off that I retrieved the sea anchor and shot off perhaps a mile south, hmmm what was that on the sounder - quick drop and multi hook ups on good dhuies with the best my PB at 18.9 gutted and certified scales.........sometimes being forced to move aint such a bad thing and I had the last laugh :-))

Me and the old man went out
Me and the old man went out no boat in sight and found a coral lump prob a couple metres high and wide out from shark bay we were drifting over for a couple of hours doing well when a boat comes screaming in and drops anchore right on the lump, he wouldn't of been 20 metre's from us when he did it. Worse thing is I no we don't own the ocean but come on a bit of respect towards others goes a long way and it can't be the only good spot in denham lol.

Read the regs properly. You can be inside the 50m zone as long as you are travelling at a slow speed and keeping good lookout for divers.

Randalls right, you can
Randalls right, you can choose whether to let it spoil your day or just enjoy the fishing.
Maybe look to see whether it has been done with malice, out of ignorance/desperation or people maybe being just plain friendly on the water, like it used to be.
And then decide whether to be angry, insulted or just plain old friendly.
For the record if you pass me out at the islands your more than welcome to come past and say gidday and ask how the fishing is, or ask directions or whatever.
Happy to know whos around etc
PS-I realise its probably different around metro...

Ahh the old pinger threads & without fail some here that wish to exonerate the dog act with various bullshit excuses.
Holiday season this way, have two consecutive days fishing & there have been pinger problems. It's no coincidence out of the festive swamping there is rarely any issue, Tapout I feel for ya man... anyone a 100m away has you absolutely phucking wired or they don't know how to use their chart vs drift.

I went out 16 - 17 nm on
I went out 16 - 17 nm on Monday in company with another boat. At one stage my colleague stopped on a fairly well marked lump and wet a line. Within ten minutes, there were six boats alongside him. Did he get upset and start abusing them? No, just gave a friendly wave.
We had a great day on the water. No agro. Kept one 55cm baldie and released a couple of undersized dhus amongst other shit fish. Doesn't worry me in the slightest if someone comes alongside and drops a line (I don't personally do it). If they catch a fish before I do, then it probably means they're a better fisherman than I and good luck to them.
FFS, lighten up everyone. None of you 'own' that patch of ocean. What do you want, the government to introduce fishing 'tenements' where you can 'buy' exclusive' rights to a bit of ocean?
Fish! HARD!

its simply un Australian to
its simply un Australian to set up camp right on top of someone else in any form
lamby is spot on , whats happened to our sense of a fair go ?
if your fishing , doesn't matter where , you just don't want /expect anyone else to set up right on top of you ,
be it on the jetty ,& they set up 1 metre from you , rock fishing, marroning , crabbing etc etc
of course no one owns the water or a certain spot , but what about a common courtesy , respect for the bloke who got there first ffs and has done the hard yards to reap some success
not just boat pingers, but you get it fishing off the rocks/beach as well when boats /kayaks, jet skis , think it fine to troll or drift through your burley trail just on casting distance and help themselves to some one elses efforts
poor form and justifying it just shows the'' I have rights /entitlement attitude'' is deeply entrenched
once upon a time , if someone was in the spot marroning or whatever you just left & moved on to the next best one you knew and kicked yourself for not leaving home earlier

you fish in Safety bay and
you fish in Safety bay and you expect no one to motor past you ?
there also is a slight chance that whoever motored past you didn't realise that you wife had just had back surgery.
it's a big ocean but a lot use it. yesterday we went out ...pretty wide from woodies....past 5 fathom ...on which a line of boats were anchored. Unless I wanted to do a 10km detour then I had to go between two..(no closer than 150m. one waved and smiled ...the other swore at us (yeah for pinging his spot straight out from carnac.) hahahaha.(shhhhhh very secret spot)and no I didn't mark the 5FB we then travelled another 35kms to our spot.
seriously some need to calm down when out there and on this (fishwrecked)family site.
not at OP BTW

IMO if you dont think pingers
IMO if you dont think pingers are a problem then you havent earnt your fishing spots the hard way.
Similar to 'dropping in' on someone while surfing I reckon.
I think its natural for people to motor towards structure like boats and markers without realising but pulling up on the same drift is not right no matter what.

seems pointless to me to go fishing to enjoy the relaxation of the day and just be so agro out there...we could just stay home and get nagged at by the missus and kids and all the other crap that go's along with normal every day life

I just want to apologise to
I just want to apologise to the dozen or so boats we past today on our way out to our fishing grounds. It was always in the back of my mind that as we past them at about a distance of 1/2 a nautical mile or so, that we might be accused of pinging their spots!!! And it would have ruined their fishing day. I am so sorry to those unfortunate people who think their secret spots are no longer secret.
Well, truth be known, we didnt ping anyone! Just went about our business of getting to the spot we wanted to fish.
