Metro Sea Rescue back in action
Submitted by Iceman on Fri, 2012-08-17 19:50
Finally recieved a letter from Mr Buswell this afternoon confirming the Government will continue to meet its insurance obligation to the 3 metro groups Whitfords, Fremantle & Cockburn. We still have to source our own insurance which the government will pay for but it may take a few week to get in place due to the complexity of the cover we need.
So we are back on patrol and able to assist you when you breakdown.
another win for the little guy. Will be on the boats this weekend so come over a say hello.

Sounds like a sensible result
unfortunately it doesn't happen often enough these days. Keep up the good work![](http://fishwrecked.com/sites/all/libraries/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/msn/thumbs_up.gif)

Great news.. And a big
Great news.. And a big thanks to the patient radio controller at Cockburn today.. was teaching(made) my neighbour log on this morning.. with all his nerves he forgot his boat name and how many aboard(only 2 of us).. Radio operator very patiently walked him through it... I logged off for him!!
PS He learnt this with his skippers ticket, but, ignored my advice of having a cheat sheet on board til ya get the hang of it

They've been very busy down
They've been very busy down here over the last few days looking for the elderly yachtman that's gone missing. Every rescue crew from south as Augusta to Bunbury plus dozens of vollys, a couple of choppers and half a dozen fixed wings. Pretty well scaled back today though but if he's out there anywhere, he'll wash up as most things do in Geo Bay.
RIP to the elderly chap though.
Cheers

Good Stuff
There would be some people stuck at sea with out em.
Did my first rescue i guess today, on my way back from the five fathom at 30kns when i see 2 guys waving there arms. i thought it was a funning fishing spot being only 10min from cockburn ramp, water in the fuel they said.
Gave a quick tow back to the ramp, i think it would have been a 5.5 or 6m ali, my 115 2 stroke struggled!! so i would hate to have to tow anyone from out deep thats for sure!!
