Mid-range 10kg rod for trolling and ballooning

After opinions on a rod around the $350 mark for trolling and ballooning running 10kg. I've settled on a tyrnos 20 over a TLD for the reel but undecided on either a single or two speed model (help). I'd like the rod to be between 5'6 and 6' and use runners only but will consider roller tip if someone can convince me. I've read back through some older topics and have noticed some problems with some live fibres which was what I was considering (stroker series) so any feedback would be great. Will hopefully be giving the outfit a good run during Carnarfin at the end of May and during the Broome Billfish Classic in July.

Cheers,

Damien

I wouldnt worry about the 2 speed. Single speed is more than enough. I honestly dont think you can put enough pressure on with 10kg to get the benefit of 2 speed. As for rods I got a sabre for just under $350. Awesome rod. For 10 i would go closer to 6 foot than 5 ft 6 in as it will have a bit more cushioning and you wont really loose anything leverage wise as it will only be pulling 3 kilo at the tip. The longer rod will allow you to pick up slack line alot quicker as well. If you are soley fishing mono go a roller(but look after it) and a sillicon if you are considering braid or are a bit slack on maitenance. I dont know of any problems with live fibres. I have built quite a few and havent had any negetive feedback with them.

Off topic a little but if tyrnos owners could fill me in on how the reel has held up over the months/years that would be great.

Cheers bb too.
