Its best to just have everything ready for a few different types of trips and pick what you're doing last minute. The forecasts are a bit variable atm, and no point getting caught out offshore if its wrong.
Team Gates hit the water yesterday (Sat 18th) loaded to the hilt and ready to catch some fish. Well, that was the plan but it all came unstuck a few kms offshore from the Dawesville Cut.
After launching the boat and heading out the channel into the ocean, we were met by some reasonable conditions, except for the easterly winds. As we headed out, the swell was getting bigger and obviously driven by the easterly winds which created a very uncomfortable ride so we decided that we didn't need to be out in these conditions so we turned around and headed home.
Was a slow trip back and we were happy to reach the cut again, ready to head out again, once these current conditions ease.
I'm guessing we're feeling the effects of the nasty weather that's hit Carnarvon in the past few days.
Frank I think you and most will get your chance mid week .I putting my money on at least one good day .the afternoons are looking good will don a night dive and try and get a late arvo fish/tagging sesh in.
all i want is to get out there and catch a dhui before christmas , have the whole family over and they dont want to hear my excuses why dhui is not on the menu , cheers guys have a safe Christmas
have enough squid , tried cray pots half dozen times not even a kaker , tried crabing once caught 3 , guess the season is getting later each year , but more likely im losing it

thats the trouble with
thats the trouble with easterly's
looks very fishable at the harbour , but get a couple of k's out and it's a different story
stay inside and get the squid jigs out
If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.
