mobile phone tower in exmouth

With the discussion on phones i was wondering if anyone knows whats going on with getting a mobil tower up near the lighthouse, i know last year the lighthouse caravan park was doing a petition and got alot of signatures.

so just curious to the progress if any.

Bwahahaha.

Even if every customer of the caravan park all used the same carrier, they would still consider it a waste of time to put a tower in there. Towers cost hundereds of thousands of dollars to install in Perth, doubtless more up there, and it would service so few people.

In all honesty it would take a death before anyone was goaded into providing service in that caravan park, and I'm not volunteering.

C'mon Till, thats a selfish attitude. I thought you were a dedicated fisherman, do it for the team. We will name the lookout chalets after ya.   "Till's  Terrace. lol   joking of course.  Rob

Cause of death: Technology

Cause of death: Technology deprivation?

A tower just for the lighthouse caravan park may be a bit over the top, but on the plus side I presume it would cover the top of the cape and the west side at least? So would cover anyone who needed assistance (but didnt have a boat radio), and that'd include out to sea, which would probably be quite useful to more people than just the caravan park residents. Of course, someone still needs to pay, and petitions dont do squat.

I wonder if for the lighthouse caravan park, if they could set up some sort of relective thingemebob or repeater. Just need to bounce the signals a little, rather than a new tower perhaps (maybe such a thing could be as simple as a mesh fence angled right, or whatever material it needs to be).

Though, that being said, if I walked up the small hill halfway between the lower and upper chalets I got reception (on virgin who use optus). Barely 100m.

are you guys going on a fishing trip or a travel mobile phone show, leave your Gucci phones and iternet games at home and enjoy the great outdoors as BCF says  "thats Not Living ".

Tongue out Matt only wants the internet to post up hourly photos on the FW site of all of his record captures and make everybody back in perth cringe for two weeks

hahaha, funny one.

We arent staying up in the lookout chalets anymore, got too expensive, down the bottom in the bank of 4 chalets to the right of the office.

not fussed but would be good to have service on the water just in case, also if you want to communicate to someone else on the water without everyone else hearing the convo would be good

telstra next g

Okay matt just so you can fed live footage to the site from your boat, and as feral said , if your with Next G telstra you can buy an aerial the you can bolt on your 4x4 or your boat and if you require a handset that has a aerial socket in the back , once plugged in you can boost your mob phone reception by another 80 kms or more, we use one of these when going to Gnaraloo as the last Tower is in carnarvon and the station is 140kms away.
I have one on the 4x4 and helps alot, cost $ 160.00 and its the same as the mine sites use o the dongars etc

Tins

Wed, 2010-02-24 20:26

Just get a couple of empty baked bean tins and some string between them, that will set you right.

Seriously,if someone wants to get in touch they can ring the caravan park and they will relay the message via radio through the sea rescue if its an emergency.
