Monkey Mia Boat Ramp

 Hello Everyone...

New to the forum, but look forward to joining in on the discussions and stories!

Heading up to Shark Bay, looking at staying at Monkey Mia, intend on taking the boat with us, can anyone let me know what the boat ramp is like to launch a 2400 Noosa?

And is the fishing reasonable this time of year??

Cheers

Mark

Ramp is pretty good at Monkey

Ramp is pretty good at Monkey Mia, plenty of water depth, but does sometimes get a build up of sand above the waterline.

Sand usually only a few inches deep, not really a problem towing with a 4x4, I don't expect you'd have any problems launching there.

Not sure about fishing there this time of year, we usually go April/May.

Launched our 8 metre rescue boat there last Saturday without any problems.

Those in the know are getting their quota of black snapper and the odd baldy without much problem. One thibg that as shown up is forktailed catfish, they are a real pain as they fight like a good fish and are not too good on the chew

Excellent ramp and car park

Have launched our Ali 6m centre up there, as mentioned good depth bit of sand on ramp, very slippery under foot so beware.

Also as law abiding fishing people you can be sure the fisheries guys will say hi at the ramp on your return, and ensure all is in place with your catch.

Agree with above comment on the catfish, plague proportion now and slimmy things that make a mess if in the boat, get of your line outside the boat HA.
