Hey people's.
Just after any advice on fishing the eastern gulf of shark bay (monkey mia ) side.
Im heading there in the middle of August to do some fishing with the old man. And would love to hook into so fish there. I know the snapper season opens on the first of August and there ment to be everywhere. Hoping to get some big blue bone and some cod as well.
Not asking for spots just a ruff direction to go.
I've done a little research on the area and have to fish the channels buy the sounds of it.
Was there any restricted no fishing zones on that side. ?
ive got a 5.5m ally so gettin out a few mile won't be a problem.
Cheers for any help.

Fished Monkey Mia late June
Fished Monkey Mia late June and the water Temp was approx 1.5 degree lower then Denham side. Fished spots that have produced cod and Bluebone without any luck, Snapper should be OK though.
The water Temp from Denham to Steep also varied substantially.
Good Luck with your trip.

Was there in May/June, and
Was there in May/June, and Eastern Gulf was very slow this year, only manged 1 keeper in 2 days of fishing (bluebone).
We did however hook literally hundreds of snapper, biggest getting up around 80cm. Of course all had to be released.
After several trips to Shark Bay this was definately the quietest I've ever experienced at Monkey Mia.
Denham side fished exceptionally well, so I'd be fishing the Western Gulf if I was you.
Good Luck !

Yeah, it was quiet in april
Yeah, it was quiet in april too. There are some exclusion zones to the north east and way over to the east. Both marked on the chart. Head towards faure is. 2nd channel fishes well. Also north east of the island. The flats around the island have unmarked channel running through them . They generally fish well for cod in particular.
Fish! HARD!

Thanks guys for the info. Looks like ill be fishing over near the island then. Had a bit of a look on google earth and can see what ya mean about those channels Randall cheers mate. Is there much in the middle of the bay. Rocks reef or is it just weeds banks and shaley ground out there.
Will keep you guys posted on the trip and fish.

If there's reef I've never
If there's reef I've never found it. The pinks will be on gravel. You'll also find nice blue lined emporer (black snapper) around as well.
