Guys keep to the topic or your comments will go. Its a family friendly site and the youngn's are the next generation.
Some of you guys that have been around a while will remember we've had a heap of young guys come through the site, many of them have gone on to become serious fisho's and are the guys that are now giving you the advice you get when you go to the local store!
Will be an interesting thread if you guy's end up getting a few eels. I have never realy heard about them in WA . I know some of the streams down south have them but i thought they were realy small. Make sure you post a report if you work out how to get them.
If you read the information on the first thread , freshwater eels dont exist here apart from a few up in the Kimberly, the only eel like freshwater species is lampreys or hagfishes in the southwest and for starters I dont think you would catch them on a hook as they are jawless fish !
good on ya adam ive shared a few pms with lachie and his a good.young bloke and keen fisher looking forward to catchin you and kingfisher for a spin for tailor when im back! on the subject of eels no idea boys
Callum said "ive shared a few pms with lachie and his a good.young bloke and keen fisher" and you replied with thanks so I assumed your name must be Lachie also?
And yes the "eel" run is on. Saw a few at the base of the cascades trying to find a way up. But as mentioned they are lamprey only and come out of the sea to spawn in July/August.
They suck onto their targets at sea and act like a vampire. However when in fresh water they do not feed, go up to reproduce and then cark it.
You cant get them on a hook, but in New Zealand I caught a couple, but they were attached to other fish!!!!
While we were in Jurien recently we had a few of our baits come back in with circular marks cut out of them similar to cookie cutter sharks I've seen on tv. Would Lampreys be able to make these marks being a jawless fish (if they are even found in that area)
I have not heard of any freshwater eels in the southwest of WA, I have however caught freshwater eels on my uncles property in the Hunter region of NSW, the eels where in a contained dam on the property. Pretty boring to catch as they don't give much of a fight.

Questions don't hurt
But do some searching on the web, you kids seem bright enough to put 2 n 2 together.

My two boys would be on here everyday if I let them have an account, then there'd be hell to pay
Can just picture them together hunched over the computer (evil grins) putting together some smartypants replies
