halco 180s yellowbelly nilsmasters redheads have worked well for me even the orange green and gold halco has produced good mackies tuna sharkies u name it. just gotta persist casting and retrieving
As mentioned the key is to persist , persist and then persist some more. You never know that big mac is swimming by. The person who covers the most water over time is generally the person who catches the most fish. With that in mind you need an outfit and lure that will enable you to cast and retrieve for long periods. Large bibbed deep diving lures will catch fish but require a lot of effort to crank through the water at any speed. After 10 minute you will want to put the rod down. The shallow divers such as the nilsmaster, halco and even bombers work well. If there is a strong breeze the difficulty is sometimes getting them to stay in the water as you are generally a fair height off the water. Casting distance is also somewhat limited. Mix it up with leadhead bucktail jigs, chrome slices and bibbless lures for greater casting distancs and depth coverage. Be aware that sharks can be a problem so a supply of cheaper obtions such as jigs and slices may result in less tears at the end of the day.

Lead heads.
Have a hunt around for some white lead head jigs, cast a mile and crank them back full bore and hang on tight.
Cheers
