Mooring Transfer

Has anyone transferred a mooring at Mangles bay?
Looks to be very complex, have to transfer boat to the moorings old owner, then transfer it back to me.
Must be an easier way?
Or am I missing something....
Here's the link

unsure about moorings mate
unsure about moorings mate but had to do the same thing to get a pen in fishing boat harbour.
We transferred the boat into dual names (me and pen holder) and gave him a $1 share in the boat and then transferred it back - bit of dicking but good part was I didn't give the pen holder (seller of the pen) his $1 back when we transferred the boat back :-)
I don't think the intent is to stuff people around - I think it was more designed to ensure people didn't end up "trading" pens/moorings for profit - although that window has closed now

Dingy is the answer
Get the current owner to sell you his dingy with the mooring. He just has to make the dingy the registered vessel for the mooring. If he has no dingy get his name added as an owner of your dingy, get the dingy registered as the mooring vessel, have him sell you the dingy and as the new vessel owner you can transfer the mooring to your name.
I would recommend at no time transferring half of your cruise liner to another party as they could suddenly change their mind and sell their half to someone else. Free money for them.

2 issues with this. 1,
2 issues with this.
1, Department of transport would knock back the application for a mooring with a dingy on it.
2, the dingy would be the only boat you could keep on the mooring without going through the change all over again.
Thinking I will have to transfer the boat to him, but at the same time post date the mooring transfer papers and have them signed.
Or have a signed agreement stating the transfer of the boat is purely for the mooring transfer and that it will be transferred back...

Dingy
There are many many mooring transfers attached to Dingies so don't write this off without investigating.

Pelagic is on the money
I am currently selling a mooring in Matilda Bay with my boat registerd against it. From my research and a phone call to DOT Marine (without giving too many details) my understanding is that this is the process used by most.
1- Add mooring purchaser as a joint (second) owner to my vesssel. http://www.transport.wa.gov.au/mediaFiles/marine/MAC-F-RB-NewBoatTfr_AddOwners.pdf
2- Now that mooring purchaser is a joint owner of the vesssel registered to the mooring he is also associated with the mooring.
3- As you are free to add/remove (approved) vessels registerd in your name to your mooring and he is a joint owner of the vessel registered to the mooring he (we) can remove my boat and add his boat.
4) Remove his name as joint owner of my vessel.
DOT do not want moorings being sold for profit.

How did you go with getting your boat insured being on a mooring in mangles??
Had a mate get knocked back by insurance company for his 28 Leeder if he was to get a mooring in there, he got insurance eventually but had to get a mooring closer to Palm beach.
