More rain on the way for Exmouth

Weather models indicating more heavy rain on the cards for Exmouth Sunday and Monday, here's the latest model run, colours show 24hr rainfall to 9am Monday morning:

From the weather bureau:

The weather bureau is warning residents to be prepared with a possible low developing off the coast, which could see more heavy rain dumped this weekend.

Senior forecaster Matt Boterhoven said there could be more significant rainfalls.

"At this stage it's still a few days away so a little uncertain," he said.

"It'll start on Sunday but the heavier stuff will be during Monday. The timing could vary, it could push it all back to Monday or it could speed it up a little.

"If the current guidance holds to be true, we could see some significant rainfall figures there on Monday."

Not looking good so soon after the flood!

Taking my daughter up there in July to get our diving tickets, getting nervous about what the reef will be like given all the sediment that's getting washed out to sea with these rains.

Yep, news said last night that forecast is suggesting another 100mm.

Time to get those Time Lapse cameras set up in the gorges.

Any thoughts on whether Coral

Thu, 2014-05-01 09:11

Any thoughts on whether Coral Bay will get some of the rain?

In the past I've noticed can tend to miss what Exxy gets, but that's not local experience though just from the half dozen times we've been up there.

Exmouth seems to get weather

Thu, 2014-05-01 09:39

Exmouth seems to get weather bombs and cops the flooding due to so much rock around.

Coral Bay, being right on the coast, and with sandy soil, would just absorb the rain.

But still, 100mm on two days of a holiday would need a change of plans.

Tell me about it.  I'm supposed to leave for CB tomoz.

Mind you a mate of mine is a Ningaloo station and said they only  got about 100mm of rain over night, when Exxy copped a flogging.  To go or wait a few days is the question

Rain band

Thu, 2014-05-01 17:28

Just received an email from the shire council emergency response officer predicting a rain band from Coral Bay down as far as Nerren Nerren station passing through on Sunday dumping between 100 and 150mm so if you are travelling up expect all floodways to be full and minor to major flooding in some areas.
