Most Outrageous Bait

I was just responding to an earlier comment and it got me thinking. I wondered what is the most outrageous bait used to catch fish. I have used chicken dusted with parmesan cheese to catch whiting (this weeks first) tomatoes to catch dhuies, potato to catch herring. Anyone want to add to this list.

Liver to catch flatties, was on holidays on the gold coast when young and an old bloke showed me how he caught them, he used liver and caught a huge shovel head flattie.

I'm sure other fish would take liver too (oily)

I saw a story once where a guy had to travel a fair way to put his boat in and once out there, realised he had forgotten his bait, so he cut a corn off his foot and used that to catch a whiting. The rest of the day was quite good apparently.

 Managed to get some subway

Fri, 2017-09-29 12:26

Managed to get some subway cookie onto a hook without all of it crumbling, herring went mental over it (left a slightly oily slick which drew them in like flies)

Whilst moared at rotto for x-mas, spotted a cobler under the boat and took a bit of crayfish off my plate, threw it on a hook and nailed him, much to the disbelief of my family that anyone would 'waste' crayfish

You know that thick callus

Fri, 2017-09-29 13:36

You know that thick callus you get on your big toes about halfway through the footy season? I once forgot my prawns and sliced off a bit of that and caught a sand whiting with it and then used the whiting as bait for the rest.

Fresh roadkill rabbit works a treat.
Before the regulations on abalone were introduced they made a fantastic bait, same goes for limpets and periwinkles

 Green Allens snake (lolly)

I ran out of Bait and was packing up to leave 2nd bank leeman, I theaded a green snake over the hook and dropped over the side to keep my dad busy while I packed up. When he said "I cant hold the rod" 5 mins later, I said you've hooked the bottom, grabbed the rod to release it and  to my suprise got a couple of large thumps. Yep 16kg Dhue. Always buy allens snakes now for backup......

when i was working in dampier , i had a mate in the bio lab at dampier salt and they regularly used to get a few milk fish out of pond zero to test them (apparently gave them an indication of the health of pond zero) rather than those big milkys going in the bin i used to get them to use as bill fish bait not sure you would get them these days
