moving/living/Fishing in Broome

My fiancée and i are moving to broome.

We are driving up on saturday and are taking the coast. She has landed a job at the highschool and we have housing provided i have never fished Broome but have fished Darwin.

Is there any fishwreckwd members who used to live there or still do that would be keen on sharing information.

I will be landbased and we do not have a 4wd but we are planning on getting one as soon as we can.

I will have a lot of time on my hands as there doesn't look like there is much work available atm.

We should be there on the 22nd of January.

I have tried to look through all the old content but can only find stuff on the town jetty or boat fishing.

Regards josh meeuwissen

Hi josh was in the same position about 8 years age wife a teacher  I had no job and of we went, don't worry to much about not having a job  you are more likely to get a job when you are in broome and talking to people face to face. As far a fishing goes the jetty down at the port is always worth a try most species can be caught off there. The rocks at gantheaume point also worth a try. As soon as you get that 4wd the options are endless good luck

I used to live there mate, get a boat, the fishing is pretty ordinary without one and awesome with one. A 3.5m tinny will do if that is all you can afford. Its no problem to go out 10kms or so but not really necessary. If you arrive in Jan, the fishing wont be all that flash until March or April when the easterlies start. But the jetty is a good backup. As I said ...get a boat !!!

 Hi mate,

My wife and I also just moved to Broome. Got here two weeks ago and will be here until late July. I've got the boat up here so get in touch and we'll get out there. Got a 5.2m plate Ally so I'm always hunting at least one other to come out. I'm working 4days at moment so keen for the odd mid week session as well. Late this week is looking good, westerlies look to be backing off. PM me and we'll tee something up.

Cheers,

Nick
