My first and only pike. A 13lb'er.

In April this year, we visited rellies over in the UK. My missus's cousin is a keen fisho, and took me to a gravel pit to try for a pike or 2.
After an hour, we had seen a few small pike cruise slowly past in the shallows amongst the overhanging branches, but no touches.
Half an hour later, I had the only taker for the day....... this 13 lb'er ! Its great to get a double figure fish on the first of a species.
The pressure is now on for me to return the favour to cuz, so when he visits next year, so we've booked in for the Exxy comp to show him some WA fishies! :-)

You should be able to crack
You should be able to crack 13lb in Exmouth without breaking a sweat, so don't worry. Still that thats a big pike for a starter!

did you live bait him???
something i always wanted to catch but never did.
If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

Gidday Grayzeee.
It was a dead bait that nailed him.
Half an eel suspended under a float and cast next to a semi-submerged large bush.
He was lying in wait ready to ambush anything that swam past.
They have a typical predators bucket-mouth as shown here:
I was really surprised at the fight on light gear.....even went for a bit of a tail-walk across the top of the water!
Hope you have the chance of nabbing one at sometime.
