My first WA squid

Me and the missus went to get a line wet in the boat this afternoon launched at port kenedy boat ramp at around 1:30pm. Spent most of the afternoon drifting sand patches between the dense weed beds caught a lot of butter fish and some nice size sand whiting, but the elusive squid had not shown yet. Around 4:39pm the float on the hand reel flew under water, my adrenilan rushed as I thought it could be my first squid. As I pulled it in saw this whopper attached to the squid jig a couple of metres behind the float. My catch of the day!

Dunno what it is about
Dunno what it is about catchin squid that is exciting, maybe coz its seasonal, maybe coz theyre not a fish, maybe cos you gota fight them with light drag incase you pull the jig, either way it is fun and when you fish ultra light gear and get a 35cm+ hood monster well, you do have to start up and back up on them aye. Good bait and great feed, I deep fried the tentacles the other day coated in panko crumbs, salt and pepper, Im thinkin, keep the hoods for bait and the tentacles for the chew! Bloody good. Nice work.
I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

Onya Tim .. they'll come
Onya Tim .. they'll come easier now , the float method does work but if you work the jig directly , I reckon you'll increase your bag .. well done
