my new computer

The last one was over 4 years old and starting to get a bit long in the tooth, so myself and a mate each built ourselves identical new computers just after the new year.

I wanted an i7, but common sense and finances stepped in and in the end I got a pentium i5 rig instead with the pista reistance, dual 24" monitors (try it, you'll never go back to one monitor!). I now want a third one so I can watch TV at the same time Tongue out (above the other 2, maybe 32"). If that happens, all I will need is a bar fridge and a toilet and I wont have to leave the computer room........

Now that I have that all set up, I'm focusing on my rods, reels, lures, fly tying area to go in the same room. I'll post pics of what I come up with. I have some ideas, but not sure how they will go. Should be fun either way.......

I'm both a gay geek and look so tuff. Not exactly how I pictured it going.

P.S Not gay, not that there is anything wrong with that, just not my bag baby.

EDIT: Now I have a too and from getting into me! Well I never.

P.P.S I seriously like girls. Just thought you guys should know.

to run programs and use the standard HD for storage.

And yes, noticable difference in load speeds for sure. ~$300 for my 64Gb Super Talent SSD.

with your set-up at all fishy!

The stand I got from harris technology for $167 - worth every penny (and that is quite cheap compared to a lot of stands). Allows you to tilt and twsit the monitors.

oooh

Tue, 2010-01-19 18:22

I ordered the i7 920 last week with 6 gig triple ddr, oh yeh baby, WARP SPEED.  No more waiting for damn video editing software.

Nice setup Huggy, I haven't got the dual monitors coz of space, but got the hdmi cable to connect the lappy to the tv for anything worth watching on the big screen.

Ooooooh, i7

Tue, 2010-01-19 21:10

I wanted to, but realistically I dont do enough to stress an i5 so it would have been a waste of money for me. Should be a killer rig.

You can get dual monitors vertically instead of horizontally? Won't take up any more room than a single monitor. Trust me, with video editing and so fourth, dualies are a godsend. And like my monitors were under $200 for 1920 x 1080 HD resolution - its cheap (the HD5850 will do it easy).

Don't you worry Russ, that contract is just a bit of cream.  I'm stoked with my new job, can finally afford to start spending again.  Will be looking at getting the new fishwrecked stickers done in the near future.

well

its not really that expensive. Everything including box, keyboard, mouse, windows 7, printer, monitors and monitor stand came in under $1500. And you could do it cheaper without too much hassle. If I really cut the bone, I reckon I could do it for $1200.

5 minutes and I'll have you building one. Unless you are a complete dolt, it is not a hard thing to do if you are ven slightly useful (and I've seen you rod stands so I know you know tools).

You can even google it and find step by step instructions.

nice looking machine hugz,

MSY probably the cheapest mob in Perth for Most IT gear.

Yes building a machine is pretty easy but like cleaning a reel, easy to damage or misplace a part.

Me Ive not built a machine for myself for a while, generally just buy myself the latest and greatest laptop every 6 or so months. am IT manager for thw company i work for so this is one of the perks :)

Geeezzz.. I will save my bucks for some decent fishing gear.. LOL. I gave up the real "need for speed" on the computer systems at home a while back. Now what's important is safe, secure and reliable.

I must admit though mate.. It's impressive.... a bit like the cars with the blue lights underneath.. LOL
