They do, but I never really

Wed, 2012-10-17 07:23

They do, but I never really get LJs past the Derwent. No idea where BT got those rigs, but they look pretty much like Southcity104's rigs and they use a lumo chafe-tube IIRC. I believe he was making them for Oceanside, maybe that has changed?

yep!

I've been offered those rigs from that supplier but pass as we do our own!

Tony/Southcity104 was supplying me a few rigs early on which are good but customers were constantly asking me  " what rig do you use Ryan"  ........ I said " my own" as after many many years out there doing the Super Deep I have my own preference

Many of my shop customers asked the same questions over and over again and after making a shit load of  " Custom " rigs for Oceanside customers I said to my shop boys you can pre make them as per my specs and they have been very popular

Super deep rigs

Correct Southcity was making a few Super deep rigs for us some time ago. We now make our own custom Super deep rigs which we have been using with great success out in the deep.

Almost to shiny and new to use for something as grotty as a fishing trip. Here comes the salt and slime.

Nice outfit there!

Did you get the drag upgraded? I'd do it, if you spent that much putting it together, you shouldn't mind $100 for this last piece. (Oceanside can do you the JM ones).

Also did you get the Saltiga locally?

Was thinking of maybe using Duralights or Electralumes on the rigs, what do other members think of them?

Both rod & reel were local, that is within 100km radius of Bunbury and at very very resonable prices.

Wash your mouth out Damo 6230!

Meant to ask, what do other

Meant to ask, what do other members think about the drag being upgraded as Hesh suggests? I've upgraded drags on Game Fishing Reels in the past but never really thought about doing it on Deep Drop gear.

yep a good thing!!

After fishing the Super Deep for many years I can say the drag washers of the Daiwa electric reels are crap!

They are thin and get sticky very quickly and I dont like not having some sort of " drag pressure progression"

The Jigging Master upgrades are great and I did it for a reason

Many other Oceanside customers and FW members have followed suit and very happy which is great to hear also!!
